Three weeks, twelve nations – the most exciting active tour of the summer

Largest Vodka Train Tour of SMS Frankfurt through Russia to Mongolia and China completed

Frankfurt, August 5th 2010 – From June twelve to 30th almost 100 adventure and sports enthusiasts from twelve countries were on their way by train, by foot, bus and ferry – at the Vodka Train Tour 2010. This summer offer included among other things a boat party on the Moscow River, cross country running along the Eurasian border, a bath in icy Lake Baikal and a stay in exclusive Mongolian yurts. It was the largest organized cultural, sports and event tour of SMS Frankfurt.

Start for all participants, coming from Australia, Barbados, China, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, the USA and more countries, was Moscow – on 20th anniversary of Russia’s independence. With a boat party on the Moskva River the organizers rang a unique, challenging and inspiring journey for the international participants. At the first stage they took the Trans-Siberian railway via Kazan to Yekaterinburg and the “border of Eurasia”. Sightseeing and cross-country races were program at each station. Fun and sport mated the euphoric participants from all over the world, also at a picnic in the Eurasian border, when half of the group at the European, the other half on Asian terrain drank on each ones health.

Irkutsk was the next exciting stop on the Vodka Train Tour. From here the international travelers took a two-day break after the journey along the historic Trans-Sib route on Lake Baikal. Hardly any of the participants went swimming in seven degrees cold lake, which is known as a rejuvenating spa. A ferry brought the group to the island of Olkhon for another cross-country run and accommodation in traditional wooden huts and with folklore in the evening.

Back to Irkutsk they continued with the train to Mongolia which was a pure cultural experience: unspoiled nature, adventurous cinematic scenes in public trains, cross-country races in a remote monastery and shaman fire dance in the exclusive hotel Mongolia with rooms as Mongolian yurts.

„The journey was emotionally and physically was the best ever” wrote a participant from Australia to the organizer Jürgen Schreiter and Elena Kiefel from SMS Frankfurt after her return „You helped make it a trip of a lifetime for me” said another participant and “the Vodka Train was an exciting, enjoyable and memorable holiday/adventure. It was everything and more than what we were expecting…”.

The final stage was Mongolia to China. The cosmopolitan group was not only in the Gobi desert, they also took fascinating pictures of the Hanging Monastery in Datong and the surrounding caves. The farewell, after a walk on the Great Wall, was not easy after three weeks. Some enthusiasts of the Vodka Train Tour 2010, already planned a revival meeting after their return home where they will surely talk a lot about this tour.

Frankfurt, May 22nd 2010 – Preparations of the biggest “Vodka Train tour” in summer 2010 are now completed. SMS Frankfurt leads an international community on the way with the Trans-Siberian railway through cultural events and fun-runs from Moscow to Mongolia, the Baikal region and China. Drei Wochen, zwölf Nationen – die erlebnisreichste Aktivtour des Sommers

Größte Vodkatrain Tour von SMS Frankfurt durch Russland über die Mongolei nach China abgeschlossen

Frankfurt, 5. August 2010 – Vom 12. bis zum 30. Juni waren knapp 100 Abenteuer- und Sportbegeisterte aus zwölf Ländern mit dem Zug, zu Fuß, per Bus und Fähre unterwegs – auf der Vodkatrain Tour 2010. Dieses Sommer-Angebot beinhaltete unter anderem eine Bootsparty auf der Moskwa, Geländelauf entlang der Eurasischen Grenze, Badestop am eiskalten Baikalsee und Übernachtung in exklusiven Mongolischen Jurten. Es war die größte organisierte Kultur-, Sport- und Event-Tour von SMS Frankfurt.

Start für alle Teilnehmer, unter anderem aus Australien, Barbados, China, Deutschland, Großbritannien, Irland, Kanada und den USA, war Moskau – am 20. Jahrestag der russischen Unabhängigkeit. Mit einer Bootsparty auf der Moskwa läuteten die Veranstalter eine einzigartige, herausfordernde und motivierende Reise für die internationalen Teilnehmer ein. Auf der ersten Etappe ging es mit der Transsibirischen Eisenbahn über Kazan nach Jekaterinburg und an die „Grenze von Eurasien“. Sightseeing und Geländeläufe waren an jeder Station Programm. Spaß und Sport paarten die euphorischen Teilnehmer aus aller Welt auch beim Picknick an der eurasischen Grenze, als sich die Hälfte der Gruppe auf europäischem, die andere Hälfte auf asiatischem Terrain zuprostete.

Irkutsk war die nächste erlebnisreiche Station der Vodkatrain Tour. Ab hier legten die internationalen Reisenden, nach der Fahrt entlang der historischen Trans-Sib-Strecke am Baikalsee, eine zweitägige Pause ein. Kaum einer der Teilnehmer ließ sich das Bad im sieben Grad kalten See entgehen, der als verjüngende Heilquelle bekannt ist. Mit der Fähre ging es auf die Insel Olchon zum erneuten Geländelauf, der Unterkunft in traditionellen Holzhütten mit Folklore am Abend.

Die Weiterfahrt mit dem Zug von Irkutsk in die Mongolei war pures Kulturerlebnis: unberührte Natur, filmreife Szenen in abenteuerlichen öffentlichen Zügen, Geländeläufe in ein abgelegenes Kloster und Schamanenfeuertanz im exklusiven Hotel Mongolia mit Zimmern in schicken mongolischen Jurten.

Die finale Etappe ging von der Mongolei nach China. Die kosmopolitische Gruppe war nicht nur in der Wüste Gobi, sie konnte auch faszinierende Bilder des Hängenden Klosters in Datong und der umliegenden Grotten machen. Der Abschied, nach einem Spaziergang über die Chinesische Mauer, fiel schwer. Einige Begeisterte der Vodkatrain Tour 2010 haben nach ihrer Rückkehr in der Heimat schon erste „Revival-Treffen“ geplant, auf denen sie sich noch viel über diese Tour erzählen werden.

Bei einem Wirte wundermild…

Mit diesem Anklang an Goethes Gedicht über einen gastfreundlichen Apfelbaum betitelt Rufus Bergen, Redakteur der kritischen Zeitschrift DER STACHEL seine jüngste Satire. Er hat schon Besseres, Geistvolleres geschrieben und sich nicht so nahe an die Grenzen der Manierlichkeit herangewagt. Vielleicht ist ihm vor lauter Griechenland und Ölpest der Atem ausgegangen. Nun erholt er sich an einem internationalen Hotel, nordwestlich von Frankfurt gelegen, indem er einige vermeintliche Schwächen beim Arrangement von Veranstaltungen bloßlegt. Scheinheilig möchte er den Gästen einen Schock ersparen, sie statt dessen zu einer Kultur der Gewöhnung anhalten. Auch dem Hotel versucht er sich anzudienen, das ohne Mehrkosten zufriedenere statt muffliger Gesichter zu sehen bekäme. Man muß nur seine Satire lesen, dann klappt das schon. Es fällt uns freilich schwer, daran zu glauben.

Wie soll man etwa den Satz verstehen: Gänsebraten wird auf der Speisekarte nicht angeboten, was nicht heißen soll, die Direktion verstünde nicht, Gänse auszunehmen.

Oder: Lädt das Hotel auf eigene Kosten zu einer Vernissage mit Häppchen ein, so könne man von einem idealen Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ausgehen: Das Buffet kostet nichts, und das Angebotene ist nichts wert. Rufus Bergen traf hier auf alte Bekannte vom morgendlichen Frühstück: Fleischbällchen und Würstchen, am Abend in Gläschen mit einem Tropfen weißlicher Soße gesteckt. Die Würstchen hingen traurig über den Rand, als wollten sie sich davonstehlen… lieber Rufus Bergen, überlassen Sie die Poesie den Poeten!

Mit kühnem Schwung bescheinigt unser Satiriker dem Hotel Umweltbewußtsein: Speisereste würden nicht weggeworfen, sondern wieder an die nächste Generation von Gästen verfüttert und so auf den Weg der üblichen, biologischen Ausscheidung gebracht.

Auch eine andere Behauptung ist wohl eher sarkastisch gemeint: Das bei Veranstaltungen verabreichte sogenannte dreigängige Menü sei, verglichen mit à la carte Angeboten, halb so reichlich und doppelt so teuer. Schlankheitskuren seien eben kostspielig, meint Rufus Bergen.

Wie kam er auf den Titel Bei einem Wirte wundermild…? Dazu habe ihn eine Rede vor Beginn der Veranstaltung inspiriert, in der eine sympathische, hübsche – und nichtsahnende – Dame von den Köstlichkeiten sprach, mit der die Hoteldirektion die Gäste verwöhnen würde.

Gott sei Dank, krank sei bisher niemand geworden. Vielleicht sollte Rufus Bergen ein anderes internationales Hotel in Frankfurt (Name kann hier erfragt werden) einmal unter die Lupe nehmen: Dort ist mehreren Gästen an verschiedenen Tagen nach dem Genuß von Köstlichkeiten übel geworden. Vielleicht paßt als Überschrift für die neue Satire…da schüttelt er den Wipfel…
